Welcome to the board. What I know about underwater photography, I wouldn't offer as advice. Like the others have pointed out, there's a whole section about photography. Those who know will help.

Welcome to the Scuba Board! Soft case is fine for snorkeling, if your talking about any kind of depth though go hard case. The pressure with collapse a soft case and make it near impossible to use your camera.
