Scuba diving cat?

If ear/sinus pressure becomes too great, wouldn't the animal naturally try to avoid the discomfort? (note: discomfort of cat being submerged in water discounted)
If the cat meows at the unfortunate soon-to-be-faceless scientist underwater, could that be enough jaw motion to open eustachian tubes and relieve the pressure?
