The bay and the diving camp of the same name are located in southern Egypt near Marsa Alam. The reef is in a super condition and offer all facets and creatures of the Red Sea. The camp is run under ecological conditions - the All inclusive diving package offers the possibility of unlimited diving at any time of the day. In this video I show the best shots that I got during a week of intensive diving.

Night dives can be launched daily from the beach at Marsa Shagra's house reef. Our tour goes along the North Reef. At night there is a lot of activity here, we find the large nocturnal moray eels and a busy torpedo ray. On the way back, it is also worth taking a closer look in the shallow water area - various curious crabs cavort here that are easy to overlook.

From our camp, the Marsa Shagra, we take quick trips with the Zodiac. First we visit the legendary Elphinstone Reef. On the south side we observe a turtle. On the north plateau we meet the resident barracuda and mackerel in the dark blue. Then we go to Abu Dabbab No. 5. The first part of the dive leads through a canyon landscape before we end it in a field of colorful corals and anemones.

Most excellent!!! Thank you for sharing.

I am planning to go to dive Marsa Shagra later this year and thinking of splitting my trip between Marsa Shagra and one of the other two resorts owned by the same company; Wadi Lahami Village and Marsa Nakari Village.

Have you had the opportunity to go to the other two at all? Do you recommend splitting the trip to visit another one, or two of the other two or are they all the same and visiting one is sufficient?

I didn`t - to my time it wasn't sure the others were open (covid times).

Wadi Lahami does not have a house reef - you have to go by boat ! Marsa Nakari Sems to be very small. From what I heard the locations itself are complete comparable.

Next time i would do the split between Shagra and Lahami.

Thank you.

Although it isn't decided and I don't know for sure, I'll probably split between Shagra and Nakari. Perhaps Lahami will be done in another trip. I am in Libya so going there isn't too bad. I'll have to fly to Istanbul from Libya and then on to Marsa Alam.

If one were to split time between Shagra and Nakari, how would the transportation work? Is the distance far?

The resort will arrange it. I've already checked with them 🙂

I don't remember the exact time but it wasn't too long. I remember them telling me that I can do two morning dives, have lunch and make it at the other resort for dinner.
