I'm a Fish!
Quite a few years ago at the DEMA show I saw a I believe it was a Grumman diving boat plane, it was for sale for a cool Million bucks and was all kitted out inside like a regular Dive boat.

It was all fibreglassed inside so you could just hose it out to clean it and it had turbones not propellers

Has anyone heard of it or knows where it is I want to see if its still for sale.

PS Mods if you think this request belong in another forum please move it thanks

I'd much rather have a 727 on pontoons.

The Cousteaus had a PBY tricked out for diving. Tank rack for cylinders and a manifold for filling the tanks in place. They carried an inflatable that they would dive off of.

Maybe each diver could roll up into a ball and be bounced a bit like the Dam Busters of WW2??:D

So what about that whole 'not flying after diving' thingy? Would you really want ot encourage bad habits by giving someone a flying dive platform?

Still, sounds like a cool toy that I would love to have.

It has been fairly common since the 1980s for surplus Grumman HU-16's to be fitted out as flying RVs and over the years I have seen a few for sale fitted out with compressors, dive equipment racks and in some cases provisions for an inflatable yacht tender.

Prices tend to vary from $250,00-$300,000 for a more or less stock mil surp HU-16 to well over a million for a fully restored HU-16 with a custom interior.

Less common are the few G-111 civilian variants that were flown in limited airline service. Those mostly have higher capacity Airline/executive interiors.

If I won a lot of money in the lottery, it would be on my "gonna get me one" list.

What you want is a Cessna Caravan 208 on amphibious floats. This is a large, high wing, single turbine (Pratt PT-6) powered aircraft with excellent capability for hauling people and cargo.

I am rated to fly and maintain them if you need a pilot/mechanic, lol.:eyebrow:

That would be my choice, new or used.

Here's the website for the current incarnation, though they are currently out of business, basically. These guys bought the Type certificate from the guy that bought it from Grumman.

Antilles Seaplanes, The Official Website for the G-21G Super Goose

This is on my invention money list. The Goose has been my dream plane since that crappy (but so cool!) 80's show.

Well Jimmy Buffett had his Albatros, but it is now at one of his restraunts. I did see a PBY-5A set up nice once, it had two custom boats on retractors under the wing where the torpedo/bomb hard points are.

For close in areas, a DeHavilland DHC-3 Otter or Super Beaver might be fun.
