Interesting take on it. I'm not sure I agree about security equating to freedom though. Sometimes I think I'd rather take my chances with security than be scrutinized, but then, I don't believe it's possible to secure a free society. Neither do I believe that life can be made safe.
I'm all for reasonable safety precautions, vigilance, and personal responsibility, but the deterioration of personal freedoms does little to make me feel safer.
Nevertheless, I don't consider being a certified diver private information. I could care less who knows it.
