Hi,
I was wondering if any of you out there currently have Invisalign (orthodontics) and have any issues diving with it? Do you dive with or without it?

I am scheduled to begin this soon and would like to have your input before I begin. :D

Thanks!

Apparently, I am supposed to wear these "23 hours a day", taking them out only for eating. I am wondering if I can sneak in the dive hours as well and still get the benefit.

Being a clear device, I am leaning more towards removing them for diving. S&R is fun, but that is too expensive for me to replace if I lose it.

Take em out. I still wear retainers (still a kid), but I take them out while diving. I'm not a dentist or anything, but I don't think it'll be too bad for your teeth to remove them for an hour. Just put them back on during the surface intervals.

can you grip the mouthpiece with them in? I don't see why you couldn't leave them in, if it falls out however, it will not be like just pulling it out of the grass and rinsing off.

What? And spoil all the fun of replying to a post with no idea what we're talking about?:D

HA HA HA!!!!

I have had nothing more than fillings or cleaning on my teeth so I fit the "No Idea" Catagory.

If you can eat with them on, then I would venture to guess that it's OK to dive with them. They stay in place pretty tightly, don't they?

I would only be afraid of the possibility of them creating an air pocket between the appliance and your tooth that could potentially squeeze on descent if sealed well enough. Even the smallest cavity can become quite painful.

You might also want to consider what would happen in case of an emergency. What if the appliance comes loose in your mouth while needing rescue breaths, or your reg gets pulled out away from your mouth and it takes your aligner with it? I think I'd leave it out while you dive.
