Just 6 weeks ago I had never thought about Scuba diving, even with my love for the water this was just something that I had no interest in. Then I did go on vacation to Malta and a friend of a friend was talking about some diving he had done, and like everyone does sometime just to say something I said sounds fun maybe I will try this sometime
Before I knew he had called a dive center and got me a free test dive next morning, after going over a few safety and how to procedures I was in the pool to try out the equipment and after some time in the pool it was time to get into the see. The wave of feelings was everything from fear, excitement astonishment and just pure joy, I did go under water and stayed there for 30 minutes and it did feel like 5 minutes.
1st of September 2010 is the day I did get addicted to diving I did sign up for and open water course and as soon as I finished the open water I did sign up for advanced. I did 2dives a day for 8 days and 2 of those day we did deep see diving.
I can not wait until I can dive again, now I just have to start to buy my own equipment, any advice on what to buy first ? I will be in Orlando for 10 days or 2 weeks end of November any advice on where to go to buy scuba gear ? Are there any places close by where you can dive in November ? I will not have any buddy with my and any way there are so many things I still need to learn so I only want to dive with trained divers instructors or someone who is used to deal with untrained divers. I love diving and I just think and talk about diving my friends think that I am crazy why would anyone in their right mind go and spend a lot of money on diving equipment when they are a 48 year old female, they tell me I am to old for this but I do not care I love diving it is the best thing I have ever done !

exactly what I say you are never to old to try new things and scuba is just such a grate pleasure the only regret I have is not trying it before

I live in Charleston SC. It is on the coast. I don't dive upper Florida, only the southeastern coastline from Jupiter FL down to Key West. In my opinion it is where the best diving is. Orlando is located Mid State and some ways from the coastline. As an alternative you could go north from Orlando and dive the inland clear water Florida springs. Dive gear is not to hard to get these days in the US. Most towns have at least one dive shop. You can also get it online. Do an internet search on Orlando Scuba Diving Stores.

Thanks Lee

If it was my pick I would travel some place closer to possible dive but my parents are staying in Orlando for 7 weeks playing golf so I am just going down there to travel back home with them, I'm lucky I can travel very low cost all over because I work for an airline and I because my parents have a spare room in the flat they rent, I do not have to pay for hotel, and finally it is a lot cheaper do buy dive gear in USA than Iceland it is a win win situation to go to Orlando. I just hope I can fine a place where I can scuba dive few times even if I am travelling with non scuba people so I do not have any buddy. But I can rent a car and drive if it is not to far ( would not like to start a drive earlier then 5 in the morning to get to a dive site. Any way scuba or not at least I will be able to buy some gear maybe not everything but just start go get my own things.

I hope you have a good time, in live in Puerto Rico and I am bless that I can dive all year around, on the 23rd of October I am going on a dive trip to The Wall in La Parguera, PR with some friends ready to try my Intova IC-12 with ISS-4000 Strobe and take some pictures.

Thanks !
I will look into this, unfortunately here in Iceland diving is a cold thing but I hear that many of the divers dive all year, and one of the must see places here is Silfra a fresh water dive they call it the dive between continents the visibility is 100 meters + ( go to web page Dive.is ) but as I just started to dive I have not done any scuba dive here in Iceland yet, but some day I will I really want to dive in Silfra even if it is cold
PS. I am green with envy with the possibility scuba in warm water all year round ! Have fun on your dive trip I did google this and it looks like a grate dive

Unnsa know the compulsion to dive. A whole new world. Grew up around water and finally found diving. Can't get enough.
My son recently returned from Afghanistan and got his OW cert. I treated him to a weekend at Amy Slates Amoray Dive Resort in Key Largo, FL. They took very good care of us. The dives were a great intro into salt water. Well managed, shallow(avg 20-35ft) and getting in those first few dives after the cert.
Best wishes
