On the 6th of December 2007 at 20.07 (Norwegian time),
more than 1000 scuba divers will attempt to set a world record in night diving,
and to strengthen the diving relations through out Scandinavian.
Diving will take place in Denmark, Finland, Island, Norway and Sweden.
This is the third time night dive is being arranged and it has been with great success the previous two years.
* 2005, 351 divers dived simultaneously.
* 2006, 889 divers dived simultaneously.
* 2007, indications are that more than 1000 divers will be diving simultaneously.
The main objective with the night dive is to do some thing socially together across local clubs and country boarders. We will have an opportunity to show what a great hobby we have and possibly recruit new divers. But also show that diving is an year round hobby, even though it might be a bit cold and dark.
Application has been made to Guinness world of records and we are hoping to get an official record!
This is a good opportunity to show even more people what it is we do, what diving can offer, the social network, and that we conduct diving in a safe way. This will also be a good opportunity to show that we dont need a water temperature of 25°C in order to dive.
We would like to encourage all who arrange night dive to contact the local press to do some advertising
for the local diving activities. Maybe this event can lead to more active divers..??
And maybe this year there to will be founded new clubs?
The idea is that the night dive event is free for all divers and there will be issued
a number of great prizes for the participating divers an assisting people ashore.
