I am hoping to do some scalloping from shore/kayak soon and am curious if anyone could point me to a descent spot in the piscataqua. Would prefer on the shallower side and not much current, perhaps river mouth? Also looking for anyone who would be interested in going along as well. I understand ME scallop season doesn't start until Dec 1st but that's ok, I can wait until then if I am recommended spots on the maine side.

Someone at my LDS, Portsmouth Scuba mentioned the scallops are fished out?? I've heard contradictory reports on this.

Anyone know what's the scallop situation? Plentitude? Fished out??

from cape ann divers' website:
"We caution all divers who sign up for a Scallop trip that there are very few Scallops left to collect. Our first trip this year had meager results. Please be aware you may not get any Scallops on a Scallop trip, the beds are heavily commercially harvested."

I've never heard of scallops in / near a river exit. In my experience, you need to get a bit off shore as they are usually 60+ fsw. I've found a few from shore before, but in general, you need a boat to do well.

I've seen them off Ft. Constitution. You can park and launch off there. That's where CG cutters used to dock. Go out towards channel (during slack) I've seen some. Not a whole lot.. Also, there is a small launch on way to New Castle (on right) go under bridge towards channel in direction of pierce island. I've seen some there. I was surprised to see some.
