Hi,

I'm thinking of dipping a toe into underwater video and I was looking at the Xacti HD1 as a starter, mainly from convenience and price factors - But the reviews I read on the product are pretty critical of the unit especially in low light conditions.

Anyway I saw the newly announced Xacti HD2 here :- http://www.engadget.com/tag/sanyo
And the blurb says low light shooting has been improved and the still camera can now take 7.1 mega pixels.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the HD1 and the Epoque housing and any speculations on the new model (I realize it's not out yet).

Do you think it would fit in the Epoque housing for the HD1 - the blurb says its the same form factor.....

Cheers

Chris

I came accross this site that says the Epoque housing is also suitable for the HD2 too so I'm now seriously considering this as a cheap(ish) way into underwater video:-

Oviously I'm not looking to challenge Hollywood, just get some decent holiday footage really - looking at the accessories (lenses etc.) available for the housing and the camera features it looks like a decent all round package. I'll wait for reviews of the HD2 camera (and indeed for it to be released!) and I'm not expecting it to be great at both video and stills but it looks like it might be an improvement on the original HD1

Any thoughts...?
