They are glued. Busted one trying to open it and found they glued the threads when they built it. Since I busted it, I swapped the connecter to a matching one. Problem solved. No polarity on a resistor (heating element)

Well thanks for your sacrifice in solving one of life’s little mysteries! I’m glad I listened to the little voice in the back of my head that said little plastic connector is not going to survive a large pair of channel-locks.
