The GF has the day off and is thinking of meeting after work around 3pm in Laguna somewhere to dive. I hear dive conditions are good during the santa ana winds. Is this true? And where would be my best chance of some good conditions for a couple new divers?

On Franko Map's it says that Pt. Vincente Fishing Access on the Palos Verdes Pennisula is good to dive from October to December during Santa Ana winds. I have yet to dive the site, but I dove Christmas Tree cove today a little after high tide and it was 20-25ft at the point and 10-15 in the cove. "Christmas Tree is a few bends up from Vincente".

Not exactly Laguna territory and these sites are not for every diver "challenge hike" but its worth the effort:D

I only dive Xmas Tree Cove from a boat way to steep of a hike.

Thanks all. We ended up going to Shaw's yesterday. Got in the water close to 4pm. Talking with everyone that was packing up they said we just missed some good conditions. Still was not bad vis around 10' light surge and 1 to 2 waves. It was the girlfriend's first beach dive and my 1st in 13 years so it was perfect for getting the hang of a beach entry and exit. We had two more tanks in the car but we called it a day after one dive. She had gotten a little cold and my legs were burning after racing a 90 mile off-road motorcycle race the day before. All in all it still beat sitting on the 91 freeway heading for Riverside!

Glad to hear you made it out. I haven't been down to Shaw's yet for a dive, but I plan to make it soon. When your up to a little more of a challenge, give me a pm. Me and my partner are always looking for more people to dive with and we'll be glad to have you and your girl along for the ride. :D
