Not done Nabucco or Derawan although heard accom is nicer there. Y Sangalki accom is basic but functional, its actually quite fun. dives are good, We typically did two morning dives on the manta sites (snorkled with 30+ Mantas :) ), and afternoon dive around the other side where the macro is, nice balance. Also did trips out to kakaban. Its a couple of years since i dived there and i know the staff has changed a lot, so cant comment on what service will be like now. The best non diving part about Sangalaki is that it is an active turtle nesting ground with an average ten a night coming ashore to lay. We had one laying about 3m from our hut, and would often find turtle tracks under our hut in the morning. Also one night i found a bunch of hatchlings had got confused by the resort lights and headed the wrong way up the beach so we all got buckets and rounded them up for a trip back to the beach great fun.

Was there in 2004, it is still like that in regards to turtle and ambience.

Sangalaki suppose to have a booth and talk on diving in that area at the coming ADEX mid April 2004. You can find out about the latest developments.

Thans for all the replies which much appreciated. I've now decided to do do Sipadan followed by Layang Layang this time and next time I will focus on a 2 week break split between Derawan/Sangalaki and Nabucco !

When you do Sipadan, consider also splitting the trip between Mabul/Kapalai and Sipadan. The macro around M/K is top notch and accessible via shore dives as well. By splitting the trip you can do more dives a day at each location and not spend so much time on a boat btw Sipadan and M/K plus that surface interval. Plus if you stay at the right resort, you can have EAN to dive sites like the platform to the fullest. I usually choose the time of month according to the tide charts or moon too.
