Hello, I am new to the forum and will be visiting PR on a conference. I am staying at the Gran Melia which I believe is on North shore.
Do any scuba operators pick you up at the hotel?
Has anyone had any experiene with any of the dive operators?
Kind Regards. Joe

Just looked up Gran Melia resort. It is near San Juan.

There is no good diving near San Juan. The sea is choppy, and not clear. Shore diving may not be safe. No dive op operate near San Juan.

The better diving in PR is Rincon (2.5 hr, west), to go to Desecheo island. Or La Parquera(southwest), to dive the Parquera walls. There are some shallow reefs near Farjado (1 hr east), or from there to get to Vieques island or Culebra island to the east.

From the hotel, there may be some excusion operators that will pick you up to go to the bio bay at Farjado. But for bio bay experience, the Mosquito Bay on Vieques Island is the best. You can also swim/snorkel there. We went with East Wind, on a fast cat to get there. It's $109/p, including dinner, and it gets you back the same night. A little expensive, but the time saving is good.

So if you want to dive, need to get out of San Juan area.

Thanks for the reply. Sea Ventures has replied that they will pick up at the hotel and take me to Fajardo or Palmas Del Mar. (25.00 for roundtrip). Hopefully someone can comment on the sites.
Regards. Joe
