Here are two sites that have links to information on boats, maps, etc.

The surf is up right now, although it is supposed to decline, so shore diving is iffy at best, unless you join the cattle call at La Jolla Shores. ( that's pronounced La Hoya). If you can find a dive boat going to the Coronados it will be worth the trip. (619) 221-8824 is the beach report number. If La Jolla Cove has decent visability it is a beautiful intro dive to California diving, easy access, lots of life although parking sucks.
Diving the Yukon or Wreck alley might be a little deep for your experience level, but you don't need to be wreck certified. It take two tanks to cover the outside of the Yukon, and the at wreck alley you can see plenty without going inside. The dive boats here, as far as I know, don't usually send a DM as a guide; they just open the gate and stand aside.
If we get a sudden spell of great viz I might pm you and hook up for a dive, but I am
sooo over diving in 5' viz. (unless I'm going for lobster, but I do that at night.)
