the flooded missile silo in abilene is the closest dive site to san angelo I have been to
Joens

it is a neat dive

None of the lakes around San Angelo are clear enough to dive in, they are all pretty much the color of red clay. The missle silo in Abilene "DIVE VALHALLA" is a challenge to get down to the water, and the water is a cold 60 degrees year round, 130' deep, 60' in diameter. I believe that it is the only deep clear water dive site in West Texas. You have to make reservations to dive Valhalla, it is not open to the general public.

www.familyscuba.com out of Midland owns and operates it. Their web site has more info.
