Hi All,

See below for a selection of images taken on my Canon S90 in a FIX housing with single INON strobe (and some using the UFL165 fisheye lens) on a recent trip to Sipadan in Malaysia. We stayed on the seaventures dive rig out there which was a great place to dive from, with unlimited diving on one of the best artificial reefs around the area. Nothing to do but eat and dive! heaven!

Enjoy the pics, and feel free to scout around the rest of the album at Phil Davison Photography - Underwater and Portrait imaging or follow my stuff on facebook by searching for "Phil Davison Photography"

Any comments, critisism (Constructive!), or questions, please feel free to ask.

Cheers
Phil

Great shots Phil, and I agree, the Octopus is an awesome find! :)

Nice shots. The one called "pipefish" is not actually a pipefish, but rather a trumpetfish (Aulostomus maculatus), or perhaps a cornetfish.

Thanks Vladimir, i'll correct, that one.

Yep that octopus was amazing to see, looks like he'd crawled in there for a nice little snooze, but probably didnt get much sleep with all the divers around!

Nice Shots, thanks for sharing Phil. My favourite shot is (yes) the trumpetfish. Ive never been able to frame them that well - so skittish! I shoot with the S90 as well and was in Mabul/Sipadan in Sept. Did you go to Si Amil - its amazingly underrated for macro.

That's a good point--that really is an excellent shot of a challenging subject. I have tons of slides and .nef files devoted to failed trumpetfish shots. But the octopus is a great shot too, and not trivial to take. (I could screw it up, anyway.) Again, well done, Phil.

Thanks very much guys, its good to get feedback on these things! (I have to say though the octopus did the hard work on that shot!)

Thanks! I didnt make it to Si Amil, we were staying on the seaventures dive rig out there and so were diving wherever they took us to. We did most of our diving around the islands of Mabul and Kapalai, but they have some amazing artificial reef's which were full of macro stuff. amazing diving and difficult to take a bad shot (Though i managed a few!) up there.
