I'm a Fish!
Hey SB,

Just picked up an older Salvo 35W HID canister light from a friend. Wanted to know if anyone here knows the light head to canister o ring size.

Cheers,

Erik

It depends on the size of the battery, not the light head. What Ah is listed on the can?
I think it’s the 10AH battery. I can get some measurements for length/diameter of the canister if that helps. It’s probably in excess of 20 years old, the only markings I saw when I bought it were that it was a 35W HID.

It looks to be a beefy o ring, probably a 3/16 diameter style o ring?

If you still have to O-ring, take it to a local O-ring place and have them get you one that's similar. It's not like the O-rings in your reg where exact size and durometer are critical, it's just got to be thick enough to get a good seal between the can and the lid, and not so big that it falls off when you remove the lid.

I don’t think they sold that head w a 10Ah battery, but LM customer service is generally decent if you reach out to them.

I measured the canister and it is 11” long and 3.5” wide.

I may end up just ordering a bunch of 200 series rings, since the cross section thickness looks to be about 1/8 and similar to a tank valve o ring (214).

Funny you mentioned LM service being decent, the gal that answered the phone insisted that I submit a request for repair form and didn’t seem interested in verbally addressing the issue. Maybe it was just the wrong person, but I’ve heard Salvo/LM service was top notch. Eventually I’ll send the light to them for an overhaul of the glands, seals, etc. before taking it deeper than 60’.
