Bernama-Freelance diver reports missing in Sungai Besar waters - Worldakkam
Shah Alam, August 3-Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) has activated a search and rescue (SAR) operation for freelance divers who were reported missing this morning while diving in the waters of Sungai Besar. ..
MMEA said in a statement today at 10:30 am that victim Calvin Patrick Lazaroo, 27, and three other divers were trying to rope a sunken boat.
“Noticing the disappearance of the victim, other divers tried to find him for four hours, but it didn’t help. After that, they contacted the Johor Bahru Maritime Rescue Subcenter (MRSC) for further action,” he said. Said.
After that, Johor Bahru MRSC started SAR operation at 2:20 pm and dispatched the Nyalau Maritime Ship to the site.
The operation also involved personnel from the Marine Corps of Police, the Royal Malaysian Navy, and the local fishermen’s community.
As of 7:30 pm, no victims were found and it was believed that he had drowned in the area reported to be missing.
“Due to poor visibility and bad weather, SAR operations were suspended at 7:30 pm,” the statement said.
The front base center will be located at Sungai Besar Fisheries Jetty and the SAR operation, which will resume tomorrow, will cover an area of 148.83 nautical miles around Sungai Besar Waters.
