re. post it just to make you feel bad :))

days...So just coming back from there I shouldn't feel bad because of your post :) , but I can make you feel bad too: I'll be there again in April and after that in August and after that in April and so on every six months or so, like I've been doing for the last 14 years... :)

According to my computer water temp was 26 degrees. Above water it is realy HOT (up to 40 degrees IN SHADE) so don't forget to drink lots of water all the time (Dehidration and DCS risk). Don't forget sunblock lotion too or the sun will cook you in a matter of hours :D

Sinai Divers? Good choice! IMHO it is one of the best clubs in Sharm. They have several boats some of them are exclusively for liveaboards, others only for daily trips. Anyway, all of them are in good condition as is their equipment and the genral order in the club (german management...).

Depends on you, but there are quite a lot of sites where you don't need a boat to dive there: you can dive in Ras Um Sid, Ras Nasrani etc. from shore.

thanks for the info's
i feel better about the base now.
did you dive with 5mm suite?
Cu next time.

I take with me a 3mm shorty and a 5mm long john & vest.
It is more than enough. When I plan long dives and/or at night I use the 5mm, otherwise I wear the shorty or the long john.

after a week diving in the red sea im back in the cold north.
but next time i go 2 weeks.
we were lucky to see a leopard-shark, reefsharks , turtles and much more.
if you never dived there.. go for it.
if you like italians and russians the better for you ;-))

have fun..

Last time I was in Sharm was in May 2001, diving for the second time with Sinai Dive Club and styaing at Moevenpick (below 4* standards, although classified 5*).

At the time SDC was considered to be one of the best.

Sinai Divers on the other hand is one of the biggest in Sharm together with Red Sea College (only one which conducts IDCs).

With the worsened situation in not-so-far Israel many have left Egypt or moved on the other side of the Suez Canal (Hurghada and souther still).

As much as I would love to go back to Egypt, I'm not considering it until the situation in the area gets any better.
