The Diverite 4100 Safety Reel is one of the nicest, simplest and most function reels out there. Its not as bulky as an OMS, its not as expensive as a Manta, or REEF Scuba. And it won't cause you the problems that the "gimicky" reels will.

Simple is what you want. The Diverite comes w/140ft. #36line. Very strong stuff. Has a replaceable locking screw, and a nice contoured handle to fit your light head in.

I use mostly diverite reels.

I use the Dive Rite reels as well. a few simple things to help out with the Dive Rite reel.
carry a few extra cold water knobs along with nylon screws. (I've only had one break, but it was on the surface)
Place something in the loop at the end of the line (I use decanter beer tops, but some people use bobbles)
When you buy them, they come with extra locking screw (I've never lost one, but have seen others lose several)

My dive bud and I have between us:
2 Halcyon 400' pathfinder reels
1 OMS 360' reel
3 delrin spools

It took some getting use to the pathfinder but tensioning it with the thumb works for me now. Never use the OMS (wanna buy it?) and we use a spool to shoot a bag almost every dive.

My general belief is that a safety reel should be as simple and easy to operate as possible. With that in mind the Extreme Exposure Delrin spools fit that bill perfectly.

What Herman is looking for is a prinary reel. Probable in the 3-4" range.

I dive alot and have owned many reels of various manufacture and have generally DESTROYED them in a short amount of time including the dive-rite reels.

The ones that I haven't destroyed yet are my Manta reels. I bet the EE primary spools are great too.

Halcyon reel and delrin spools here as well - best stuff out there...

Big T

Thanks Guys,

Had to make a quick decision and ended up with a 3" OMS which serves the purpose nicely for what I needed it for.
