Does anybody know what this thing is and looks like? Maybe a picture? One of my friends often tells me, that this is a very important thing for safe diving. He lives in different counrty and doesn't want to make a photo of it :( But there is no sign of it in internet and nobody else doesn't know a word about this thing... :(

I think you may be talking about the subduck. It is made by Aquatec and is a cross between the dive alert and the hammerhead. Meaning it can work both on the surface and under. But it is not as loud as either of those. It makes a quacking sound.

Don't know if it is "a very important thing for safe diving" but I know of someone that has one and it does infact sound like a duck. How good does it work?...well, not worth the money in my book.

and nothing more?
because I have the subduck and it sounds really like a duck, but it is not what i mean
:( He said so.. he says, he always takes two, for "redundancy".... and it is somehow connected with sharks, to use it, diver must "deploy" or "release" it first..
i thought, it was kind of a joke, but he resented

I wonder if this is a misunderstanding due to literal translation...
Is it possible your friend is referring to a safety sausage or a lift bag, but that the thing isn't actually called "sausage" or "lift bag" in his language? At least that would be something you would deploy, and two of them really would represent redundancy. But then again, deploying a bag would have no direct bearing on sharks....

What country does your friend live in, and what language do they speak there?

Israel..

Perhaps an inflatable surface marker shaped like a big duck? Actually, I wouldn't mind getting something like that. The guys on the boat would know it was me... ;)
