Interesting--now that you ask, I don't recall dealing with bugs at all. I'm usually a mosquito/sand flea magnet, and itch like crazy from the tiniest bite. We were there in early June last year, fwiw.

I never noticed any.

DO NOT miss climbing Mt. Scenery and make sure you sit on the right side of the plane.
The landing is beautiful, but the take off has you clinching your cheeks.
