Hi everyone,
I am buying my first underwater camera. I have a budget of $1500, but would love if I could spend less than $1000.
Above ground, I have a SLR with a variety of lenses, but the underwater housing for that costs too much!
So I have been looking at a couple compact cameras and accessories. Any recommendations considering my budget?
I am thinking a Canon S95 or a Panasonic ZS7 with the cheapest housings possible (around $250 I think)
For the Canon S95, I was also thinking about getting a wide-angle wet-lens because it only goes down to 28mm. The Panasonic, on the other hand, has a 25mm lens. Any thoughts on whether 3mm makes much difference? I do love wide-angle stuff though (on land, I have a 10-22mm lens)
I think my focus might be more on video rather than photos. Is it true that the Panasonic is better than the S95 at videos? Does anyone know if the Panasonic is able to change its focus and zoom while recording? As far as I know, you can't with the S95...
Should I bother with a strobe at first? It seems bulky...
Thanks very much. And if you have any suggestions on setups other than the S95 and ZS7, I would love to hear them.
