I've recently bought an S95 camera and have been looking at housings and strobes.I am a brand new underwater photographer, and on dry land have nearly always been a full auto shooter, although I am trying to learn more about changing settings ect. Since I'm brand new, I've ruled out buying a RecSea, mostly due to price, although it has great reviews ect, I can't justify spending so much money when I will have no clue what to do with most of the settings and other options.

I'm torn between the cannon Housing and the Ikelite. I know I will want to a strobe, probably sooner rather than later. I have been leaning towards the YS-02 or YS-01, however I don't know how the housings interact with the camera's internal flash/strobe ect. I think I understand what TTL is, which the YS-01 supports, but I didn't think the camera supports it. How do I find out exactly how this works?

There is tons of information on the forums, and reviews ect. I've read a lot of it. However from the point of someone new to photography, I am suffering from information overload. At this point I'm not sure what things are important and what isn't. I remember when I first bought my dive gear I made some mistakes, but I'm hoping to avoid that with a camera. I really don't want to buy something that isn't going to be useful to me. That said, I know some trial and error is going to happen. I would appreciate any insights you guys have.

According to your post, I would say go for the Canon housing and give it a try. Those housings work great for all sorts of applications other than just diving. You can use it for snorkeling, rain storms on land, and scuba diving. After a few dives with it, you will know if this is something you want to go further with. To go further, the next step would be a generic tray, arm, and slave strobe. All of which you can use with the Canon housing. Trust me, I've done it! What I just described can take you through years of fabulous diving and fetch you some great photos.
