I had an old S90 laying around that wasn't being used. So I put a Ikelite (who designs their latches...crap) housing on it as a cheap P&S underwater camera set up. I decided to push the camera to the extremes to see what would happen. The majority of the extreme low light shots were junk. I wasn't expecting too much but here are a few samples.

The S90 is a decent camera in good light. But in low light it's 'ok' at up to ISO 800. You can loose a lot of detail or get a lot of grain trying to put it out.

This shot was in complete darkness at the base of the water flow from the aquifer. There was a lot of natural sediment being pushed up. Shot AV / f2 @ ISO 800. Not too bad with a little PP.

This was shot AV / f2 @ ISO 800. The water flow moving up the column made it hard to keep the camera still, but the lighting was right for the shot. I used a little PP.

All and all I'm satisfied with this set up. It has limitation but will be great for dives with decent light. The 'happy snappy' photos 30 feet up were great. I won't be too hurt if it takes a 'poop' due to abuse.

2 decent pics.......what other camera(s)do you use---as your 'go to' ones??...I'm guessing you've got strobes etc on the other(s)....

LOL...a Go Pro and a Sola 1200.

This is, and will be, my go to underwater camera. I'll learn to work within is limitation.

I use a 5D MKII (but not for underwater photography)
