Landlocked,

I think I am more like the other way around - 6.2 miles I can take - it's going to be the last 20 that's gonna kill me (jk). :mean: But it's all a mental thing.

This will be my first marathon. I got the idea in my head last year when a friend ran and I thought, Hm, why not? So I've been sort of training, but not too seriously, since last November. I've established about a 15 mile base. I think it will be fun - I love running. And I enjoy physical challeges and pushing my body to the limit. I just hope I can get more training mileage in.

If you want more gory details, you can read my training log on Xanga. Writing stuff down helps me chart my progress and will hopefully keep me motivated.

Thanks for all the good luck wishes - Dee, Shellbird, DG, UP, chad, diver30, hope I didn't miss anyone.

That's truly exciting. So what's the training schedule like. Have you run a marathon before? What kind of a running base do you have established, etc. Must have details!!! It sounds like fun (if your addicted to endorphins!) By the way. Good Luck!

Brief note for less sadistic members..... Marathon 26.2 miles, always. With a little practice, the human body can usually run 20 but the last 6.2 miles, or some say the last half, takes a little extra preparation.

The training plan looks great. I'm sure you will do very well! If you haven't read Jeff Galloway's Book on Running, titled "Jeff Galloway's Book on Running", I would definately recommend it. It is a primer for a first marathon. Anyway, good luck and good running. Please keep us posted.

There's a guy in my office that competes annually in a 50-mile run. I'll ask him how he trains physically, because mentally we KNOW he's nuts!!!

Thats easy. He just doesn't have a life, at all. Ever.
