Days-long eruption of Indonesia's Ruang volcano forces hundreds to evacuate as sky fills with red ash

Officials reported "volcanic ash rain" as photos and videos show the Ruang volcano filling the night sky with fiery red and orange plumes.

If Google maps is right, this should be about maybe 50 miles north - north east of Manado...
I hope and wish it doesn't cause much trouble to people over there.

Travelers visiting the area might encounter flight disruptions.

Could get interesting—we’re headed out tomorrow and scheduled into Manado Monday. Someone hustled an interesting video about it onto YouTube already, although I gather from the spirited comments some of the footage might be old/stock.

The Guardian reports that officials fear it may collapse and trigger a tsunami. Hope it doesn’t come to that.
