My bf and I will be going on a W.Caribbean cruise in Sept. on Explorer of the Seas. The ports of call are Belize, Costa Maya, Cozumel and Grand Caymen. We've been told that Coz and GC are the best dives, if we had to pick just two. Can anyone tell me who RC uses as DOs in these ports, and if they are reputable operations? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanx!

scuba marco I'm going on a cruise also tru RC 5/22 to nassaua,st tomas, PUERTO rico, and coco cay. I called RC to find out they don't know at the main office they told me i would have to wait till i was on the ship. try a search on the scuba bouard you might get lucky and find out.

Thanks for the info. I think I've heard that RC uses Sand Dollar Sports in Cozumel, but no idea about GC. Have a great cruise!

Try the cruisecritic site. They have a scuba forum and will probably have an answer.

Royal Caribbean uses Redsail on Grand Cayman. Redsail is fine, if you don't mind cattle boat diving. I would recommend www.neptunesdivers.com for a more personal dive experience.

On Cozumel, bluextseadiving.com/ is also a better choice than the ships excursion.

I liked diving with both these operators in March. Both are willing to accommodate cruise divers.

Also did a Royal Carribbean cruise to Grand Cayman in September last year...we opted not to use the Royal Caribbean dive op and instead went with Neptune Divers. We're very glad we did. Very accommodating, significantly less expensive (than the trip offered through the cruise)...and it was very personal--only four of us on the boat (including the DM and boat captain).

Also, Royal Carribbean ended up having to cancel their dive trip (the day before the trip) for "lack of interest"--they only had about half a dozen sign up for Grand Cayman. Would definitely recommend Neptune Divers (or any other local dive op) over going through Royal Carribbean.

That would surely suck big time not getting to dive Grand Cayman because of "Lack of Interest" on someone else's part.

Exactly! Would not recommend taking a chance that the cruise line gets enough interest to fill up their cattle boat. We were real glad we decided to go with a local DO.

This is interesting, I havn't been on Royal Carribean since before I started diving.
Last cruise I was on was Holland America, and they still went even though I was the only one to sign up. I have had the same on other lines, but don't remember which ones.
