Hey all - what kind of crabs are those that you see under rocks that dig holes like lobsters and just kind of sit there and hang out? Rock Crabs? Can you eat them?

Thanks!

Here in Puget Sound we have Rock Crabs... they can get up to 7" across the back... are maroon colored on top and yellowish on the bottom with black around the edges of the claws. Their shell is very hard and the only meat to be had without undue effort is in the claws.

sounds like the same thing... I just read that the suggested method of eating is to just rip off ONE claw while diving and let the crab go... is it worth it?
