Will be in Roatan the first week of May and want to know what the average water temp is that time of year. Need to determine which skin to pack.

Thanks
Roger

I was there last year during the first week of May and the water was consistently 83F. We stayed and dove on the South side.

79-83 F, I'll still be wearing my 5mm I will be considering switching to the 3-2 full about that time though. After that it won't be until the middle of June that I switch to my 3mm shorty and by early August I will have nothing but board shorts until end the of September. But I am very accustomed to the warm water here!

I have over 600 dives off Roatan and have used only either skins and or a shorty over them for all dives......Even one March, tongue of cold water came in(DMs were using 2 wetsuits) & water temp was about 76, I dove with skins & shorty..By May water should be around 80, perfect for skins, IMO & might get a little hotter by then, possibly just bathing suit only??...You'll be going @ a perfect time...

I get chilled, not really cold, on a drift dive in 75 degree water with a 5 mil suit. Sounds like I should be good in a 3 mil...will bring my shorty in case we get lucky.

Thanks for the info guys.
