A little more than a month after our trip to Roatan, I'm finally getting my photos uploaded to webshots. We stayed at Anthony's Key. I'll try to give you a little report when I get a chance but you should be able to click on the link below to see the photos.

It's nice to see so many good images of the resort as well as u/w shots.

Sweet, looks like a fun trip...how was the locals? what kind of sharks are those?

Thanks all. I actually kind of thought the vis was somewhat bad or rather a lot of backscatter from things in the water. I also had some major issues working with my external strobe. Every time I look at the photos though I think that I enjoyed it more than I even thought when we were there. I didn't see as much fish life as I had expected (compared to other places I've been) but maybe it was the time of year. The locals were nice (hotel staff was pretty nice) but we saw at least one instance where someone in our group was a little too trusting and could have wound up in a worse situation than she was. The sharks are Caribbean reef sharks (aka grey sharks too I believe) . That was probably one of the best dives for me. Not an ounce of fear but loads of fun. I took some video of it too on my camera.

You've got some sweet shots in there lady. The Indigo Hamlet is not an easy find, I've only seen one in 20 years of diving and that was in the Bahamas.

The real beauty of Roatan is the very diverse macro life. For me it has a combination of many different locations.. All in one nice place.. I'd agree that the general fish life is not as prolific as some other places, but again that's not the real draw of the area.. Neck crabs to seahorses to mantis shrimp.. "What a bargain"!!!

Cheers,

I can definitely say that I did see more small things than I ever have. Tons of baby fish, the smallest eel I've ever seen, lots of cleaner shrimp in different colors and bright red shrimp, my first eel garden...Initially when we went for some reason I thought we'd see a fair amount of bigger sea life so that was a little disappointing but after I keep looking back at all the photos I think we will definitely go back. Anthony's Key had so much stuff to do, the food was really good, I loved the personal deck and hammocks on the key rooms and I could watch the dolphins for ever.
