I have wanted to dive Monastery since Jim Patterson's article in the March / April issue of California Diver. Watkins reports a vertical wall outside the wash rock / pinnacle on the right side of the cove in A Diver's Guide to Monterey.

Hope the dive goes well. Looking forward to some more great pics.

What a pack of sea lions!

I'm following your trip with interest and enjoyment, and I'm looking forward to Monterey pictures. I love diving there. I hope you guys have Lobos reservations!

Great sunset capture of the sailboat. At first sight I thought you had photographed the Elephant's at San Simeon, but you captured them at Piedras Blancas. Is Piedras Balancas more secluded? Or can you get close to the beach? At Simeon they make you stay way up on the dune and it can get really crowded.

PCH from Plaskett to Carmel is one of my favorite drive-scapes on earth. A must see for any Californian.

There is a dirt parking lot about a quarter mile south of the Piedras Blancas lighthouse. You can walk down a trail to an overlook about six feet over the beach. I was surprised to see so many during the summer.
Merry ran to the edge of a dock to get the shot of the sailboat with the sunset in the perfect position between the mast and mainsail. She took one shot, and it was her best.
We had fog and road construction most of the way to Carmel. I wanted to go back that way, but we needed to beat Carmageddon so we took 101 all the way to the 405. We made it home around 11:30 this morning and never had to stop on the freeway. It was a miracle. We need to get back to the T-Pier when conditions are better and different nudis are there.
