I completely agree with you -- I think the reason San Miguel is my favorite Channel Island is because it's so like Monterey!

I LOVE the shot of the blue rockfish on the black background -- that's just plain beautiful. I'd love to have that framed somewhere.
 
Oh, I love Kawika's photography and his writing -- his site is one I bookmarked when I first found it, and I go back periodically just to admire the visuals and the articulate descriptions. Such a talented life lost so early.
 
The final anemone shot is stunning. I wonder whats going to happen to all the juvenile blue rockfish developing back home? Will the first generation make a big enough footprint for the species, that one day will we have such schools down here?
 
Nice shots. Hope Monastery preserves some of those conditions for early August. Visiting Jade Cove with CIDA on the way north to Mendocino.

Thanks for sharing the link to Kwanika's shots. Gotta love the ocean and it's inhabitants to get shots like that. The critters can feel it.
