Also dove the "Canyons"???? Dive site a few days earlier which was unremarkable, although admittedly, we couldn't find the canyon as no one had a dive chart...

For "Canyons", if you mean "Rainbow Canyons" (just north of Norman Islands Bight, and between the Indians and Pelican Island) then don't worry - there are no canyons as such - you didn't miss anything. The idea is just to follow the reef line around to the south (where it gets deeper and more interesting) and then come back up around onto the reef and swim back north in the shallower waters alongside the Pelican Island cliffs.
