Hello All,

I contacted Dive Mon Charters Contact Us in Freeport, TX about a rig trip this Saturday 6/26/21010 If enough people show interest they will set one up.

I've never used their service, so at this point I can give no advice or details. In fact, if anyone of you are familiar with them, please post your impressions or PM me.

Thanks,

Couv

I asked the same question about folks impressions....the owner/Captain wrote back said they were brand new at it in terms of the charter boat! So the first treks out, the divers will be ginnie-pigs of sort. His reply was honest and hid nothing, bet it will be a learning experience for them, and all will go ok....least hope so. They are keeping it at recreational level for now, less the captain and crew were technical trained, it's best to keep it that way as many really don't fully grasp the tech way things are always done IMO. Post a trip report if you do go out-thanks we would all be interested to read it. Web page seems well constructed and answers many questions we divers have--that's very positive. Good luck getting a trek together. :)

Good to hear that there is another option for diving in the Gulf!

I just moved back to Texas from a 6 month contract aboard a cruiseship (me = musician). I have already exhausted the local diving in DFW, and looking to do some gulf diving. Apparently all the flower garden boats are not doing anything until mid August. Are there frequent oil rig trips set up on the board? If so I would love to take part.

The board is pretty awesome! Looking forward to meet some members!

Take care

We went 23 miles out. 5 to 10 knots and 2 to 3 feet is the comfort zone.

The benches, tank holders, swim platform, ladder, and rig line system all worked as designed. We did have some minor configuration issues due the the three different types of tanks that the divers brought. We ended up having to put the small steels in the AL80 holders as they did not have a flat tank boot to cover their round bottoms.

As expected, we learned a number of things including that we need to have divers set up their gear before we leave the dock and to store their bags in the cabin. We have also subsequently added a sun cover to the cockpit.

The guest cabin with bunk beds also came in handy on the way back.

Here are some photos that one of the divers took.
