Quick update, I did end up writing to Shearwater with the suggestion and it looks like they've included an update in the latest firmware release a couple of weeks ago: Shearwater Firmware V93 For Petrel 2, Perdix, Perdix AI, and Perdix 2 Is Now Available - Shearwater Research
It's not called out specifically, but now when you break the STOP, but not the CEIL the flashing numbers are yellow instead of red. Seems like a good compromise and was very welcome seeing that during my dive yesterday. Gotta love Shearwater!!
