Here are some of the benefits you receive as a club member:
Your money goes towards great monthly guest speakers.
Discount Diving & Vacation Rates: RDC members pay less for local dives than "walk-on" divers pay and get significant savings on club sponsored vacations. Plus ease of mind due to the trip leader, accomodations, diving, and side trips scheduled prior to trip by someone else, and people to travel and dive with esp. for single divers.
New Diver Support: Diving with experienced club members give new divers the confidence they need on their first few dives. This is what sets the RDC apart from commercial dive operations and accounts for our outstanding safety record. We provide an arena for interaction with multiple dive shop owners, representatives at meetings
GOOSE DAY: To keep you from getting rusty and to uncover any equipment problems, members are given the chance to check out their skills and equipment in the quarry just in time for the start of each diving season.
Quarry Days- RDC members get free admission to quarry days at Lake Rawlings and food and drinks are provided free of cost.
Specialty Certifications: As you strive to obtain specialty certifications, you will have a larger roster of comparably trained buddies, dive masters and instructors to dive with you.
Monthly Meetings: We meet every second Tuesday of the month at La Siesta. Come and enjoy the free chips and salsas. La Siesta also provides excellent authentic Mexican cuisine. Activities, information and fun are regularly scheduled. The meeting's highlight is a program on a variety of topics such as equipment and procedures demonstrations, wreck history, underwater photography, etc.
Environmental Preservation: The RDC has conducted projects such as Project Aware on the James River. The club also makes annual contributions to many related organizations such as the Deep Dent and the Diver's Alert Network.
Cash Savings: You will receive a 10% discount on diving equipment and free air fills for quarry days from the Dive Shop, Atlantis Divers, and Dallas Weston just by showing your RDC membership card.
Surface Intervals: We have some great parties and a wide range of special events. Discounted trips to IMAX films, wine tasting, museums, aquarium visits, and joint club activities.
Most divers will save the cost of membership on their first dive outing. The actual value the club provides to active divers is many times the actual cost -- a few examples will make that apparent.
For example if a club member dives at the Quarry twice a year, your membership benefits would be:
2 days quarry fees $20 per visit = $40.00
4 free air fills $6 per fill = $24.00
10% savings on the $200
of new toys from your local dive shops = $20.00
Total costs = $80.00
The question you have to ask yourself, How can I afford not to be a be member? We also try to provide the same discounts with trips. The speakers, fellowship and friendships, an arena where we may all freely express our own passions and experiences are all more powerful than we know.
