Hey my fellow canon users, I just purchased my S95 today, and have been shooting like a madman!

I have yet to purchase an UW case, and as of 8/7, am still stuck in NY with little diving around :(

So as time goes on, I should have UW pictures!

As for now, we must make do- Here are a few un-underwater pictures :p

I'd appreciate constructive critisism!

I am not familiar with the S95 or what kind of control you have over things like shutter speed, aperture, or ISO, but both pictures would benefit from a smaller aperture, resulting in an increased depth of field. Under water, that will be a big issue, as you run in increased risk of focusing on something you didn't intend on focusing on, leaving your intended subject blurry.

Aside from that, I like the crisp detail! Not bad!

Good advice, I probably need to use the flash and decrease the aperture. I think I was using ambient lighting for the cactus so didn't want to use smaller aperture

So another picture, pretty good IMO (but then again, who thinks their own baby is ugly?)

Self critique would have to be:
Background is distracting (Decrease aperture and then increase shutter) Increased shutter would help with some minor blur in the drops, maybe because they weren't centered?
Left side is also a bit overexposed- may have helped to with inc shutter speed?- especially getting the darks darker
Should've gotten the entire statue in the picture, or less of it into the picture.

oh yea

Your enthusiasm is infectious. Good luck with your photography and diving. Yes, despite what some might think, taking surface shots is better than nothing, especially when learning your new camera, have fun.
