Thanks Tortuga68, that's a nice comparison - and overestimated even (or at least rounded up to the smallest integer). According to the GSAF there have been 23 deaths in 52 years. That's 0.5 annual deaths. But let's not split hairs.
But the GSAF report certainly puts paid to that argument.
Indeed, but I think this statement can be interpreted two ways. We divers would interpret it as, "that figure includes all the attacks on non-divers which is by far the majority" while the elasmobranchophobes would interpret it as "that figure includes all the unsuspecting non-divers who weren't looking for trouble by diving in the same waters as sharks."NB the shark attack risk is not diver-specific
