G/F and her two kids and I are starting a plan to go to Saratoga for the races at some point this summer. This led me to thinking about the possibility of diving Lake George. I'm a relatively new diver (AOW) but her son, 19, is very new. We dove St Thomas and St Kitts last year together. Are there guided group dives, or is everything on your own? From some quick Googling, it looks like many places require reservations. What are our best options?

Check out the NYS Divers Association web page.

Also keep in mind that Lake George is "very cold".....

Frank Hartley at Halfmoon Marine Services is a good guy and will take care of you. There's also easy shore diving at Hearthstone campground. It's used as an OW site by a lot of the local classes. Lake George is cool all year around, but you should be OK diving wet in the shallower sites, especially later in the summer. Morin's will be the closest place for fills.
