Thanks for posting the pics! I'll be there in February, and I'm really looking forward to 2 weeks of boat-diving and unlimited shore-diving. Nice to hear that there is more life on the little area of reef, rocks and rubble just south of the hotel.

it pinned some folks against the netting who were trying to come in from snorkeling. Some of that life stung them pretty thoroughly.

Perhaps we could get our man Daniels to put in a hand rail? (meant as a joke)

I can see where that would have been difficult for them.

Hi,

Thanks for the post! We are staying at Scuba Club Cozumel right now . . .we'll go to the lighthouse for a drift dive and will check out the front of Blue Angel. What depth did you find your sea horse?

The house dive boats at Scuba Club are mixed with beginners and advanced divers in the same group -- so that's been an issue for those of us who want to do deep dives. They're preventing us from going to deep locations, because we're diving in the same groups as brand-new OW divers. Today they took us to Punta Sur and said we couldn't dive Devil's Throat because we had two new divers in our group! Luckily, after some discussion, we were allowed to tag with another group as the 11th and 12th divers -- as long as we agreed to stay in the back of the group's dive through Devil's Throat. Also luckily, the divers ahead of us didn't kick up much silt.

Also wish they'd let us request the locations to dive, like you said they're doing with Blue Angel. They basically tell us what boat we're on, what group we're with, and what dive guide we're with, and what location we're going to each day.

At least the food is good here!

Aloha!
Dee

Hey Dee -

Unless the current is running "backwards", getting in at the lighthouse won't get you to the Caribe Blu as it's still a bit further to the south. If you want to do it as a drift dive, you'll probably want to enter down by the Villblanca and drift/swim north. There wasn't much current there when we dove it last week - you might want to just rent tanks from Blue Angel right there at the Caribe Blu and do the whole dive from there.

The seahorses were at about 15 feet, just north of the stingray pen.

It's a Flying Puffer. Very rare and only found in Coz. :eyebrow:
Too bad the Illini fan didn't post that. I could have questioned his education. ;)

Go Hawks.

The Flying Gurnard was pretty cool too!

Balloon fish, like in the pics Daz posted in another thread. But actually the flying gurnard was pretty cool (key word here...wait for it....) TOO! (as in also, in addition to, etc.)

Tried to upload a video of the Gurnard but not having much luck.

In 2007 I did my OW referral with Matt at Blue Angel, he and they were great. I haven't made it back to Coz as I have been in Puerto Aventuras the past year and return again this March, but I will definately do a coiple of dives with Blue Angel this time.
