This was only my second trip to Coz but first time staying at Caribe Blue (k/n/a Blue Angel Resort) and diving with Blue Angel

My son and I arrived on Friday the 9th. We had no issues with any of the transportation and arrived at Blue Angel before 3pm. The front desk greeted us by name (we must have been the last people checking in that day, cause I didn't have a name tag on). Check-in was a snap and we quickly unpacked

I really liked having the dive shop right next door. It allowed us to confirm our dive schedule and get they paperwork done very quickly. We also managed to get a shore dive in before dinner

We did two-tank boat dives from Sat to Tues and I did the afternoon boat dives on Sunday

The dive service was great. Boats were on time every morning. We had full say over the locations. The DMs would assemble your gear if you wanted, but they would also let you do it if that is what you preferred.

The hotel room was nice. We were on the third floor and had no complaints. A couple things to keep in mind: the dive shop starts moving tanks around 6am and you can hear that very easily. Also the road noise can be loud unless you have the AC running

We only used the restaurant for two lunches and breakfast on the last day. Standard stuff, nothing noteworthy either positive or negative.

Overall, I really liked the hotel and the dive op and plan on using them again when I return to Coz.

Good to meet and dive with the both of you while you were here. Perhaps we'll meet again as we're here at this time yearly.

Shore dives are actually wonderful. Lots of juveniles of many things. Also flying Gunards, octopus, spotted morays, seahorses, on & on... I didnt do a night dive this trip but a couple day shore dives sure made me wish I had!

Here's one from in front of the hotel Friday:

It was nice -- we did about 45 minutes. We went out past the stingray pen and turned left (south). I had really meant to get a night dive in, but never did.

It was great to meet you. Unless my son finds a better option (which is certainly a possibility :) ), we plan on returning next January around the same time.

Daz will have much better shots, but here's another quick couple pics from in front of the hotel.

I think the Stingray Prison camp next door, although sad for the stingrays...has really improved the diving in several ways. There is much more LIFE in and around the fencing and rubble. It's a nursery of sorts as I saw sooo many juveniles. My regret, along with Tom...is that I didn't do a night dive. That will change as we are already making plans to return in January 2010.

The Flying Gurnard was pretty cool too!

Isn't that a puffer?

As to the life around the netting, there is that. As a matter of fact, when I was there last May, the current was coming from the "wrong" direction some of the time and it pinned some folks against the netting who were trying to come in from snorkeling. Some of that life stung them pretty thoroughly.
