I have a full 1st and 2nd stage from Dacor. My regulators are pretty craptastic and I am wanting to add in a new-age 2nd stage / octo / gauge pod (w/ dive comp). Would re-using these be a bad idea?

As long as the first is in good shape- serviced and working properly- there is no reason not to use it. Since Dacor is no longer supported it may be difficult to get it serviced but otherwise there is no good reason not to use it. It may not be cost effective to buy just a second stage but that is a different issue.

Maybe, maybe not. If you can find a second you prefer at a good price why not but if the best deal you can get on a second is 80-90% of the cost of a complete reg you might as well go ahead and get the whole thing. This is esp true if you are going to have to have one or both stages serviced. Find what you want, get the prices and do the math, including any service work you will have to have done.
