New member, first post. I am returning to diving after some years off. My 18 yoa son just got his open water c-card, and this prompted dad (first certified in 1979) to get back into the sport. Next to return will be mom, who has been away from diving longer than I have. A friend at work is also an instructor through SSI, and has offered to help "get the rust off". All my (and my wife's) previous dive experience has been in the chilly waters of Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands, but have a trip to Maui coming up in March (one of the 12 wet monthes in Washington) and we are really looking forward to snorkling (mom) and diving (me) on Molokini. I have been visiting the Scubaboard site for several weeks, and am hooked on it. Lots of VERY good info, so I just signed up as a supporting member. Happy Diving.

Hello Charles and welcome to Scubaboard! A trip to Hawaii sure sounds nice! We're glad you liked what you saw. There's so much information here. There's a "club" section on the board that has some different geographic regions where local divers can discuss local spots and find dive buddies. I'm including a hyper-link to the one for the PNW here:

Enjoy!

Welcome to the board. I'm glad you are back in to it and your son is also diving. It will make a good family sport.

No experience needed and it feels great!

WELCOME to ScubaBoard!!!
And welcome back to diving!
Two build in dive buddies, it can't get much better than that.
One of the great things about the new dive equipment; you can use the snorkles while walking around Seattle and breath dryish air! Way cool! I plan to keep a snorkle in my glove bax and in my brief case when I return to the PNW.
Oh, and so many diving experiences while walking through town, but you need windshield wipers on your mask -that's doable.

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

...and welcome back to diving! I was also certified in 1979 and found this site when I was returning to diving after a long hiatus. I found the information here to be invaluable to me. I also found the members in my area to be fantastic in helping me get back on track and knock the rust off. Have fun getting back into it!

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or respond to in this forum.
