We were originally scheduled to go down on Nov.26th, but our air transport with American Airlines hiccuped into mid December, and now we are set to go on Dec.16. We are going to continue our arrangement with Caribe Blu and Blue Angel dive, as Jeanie for Blue Angel assures me that the Hotel and dive shop will be operating long before that. Should be interesting, but with what I have seen of the incredible efforts the people down there are pouring into the recovery effort, it should all work out okay. (I hope!:D ) Anyway, if anyone is gonna be down there about that time, lets hear from you- the more the merrier! Woody

Hey Woodman, I'll see your there. We're staying at Caribe Blu too, Dec. 18-24. I'll be diving with Christi and the non-diving family will get to sleep in.

Hope someone will post some current repair photos before we go.

Now where did that countdown time go?

I agree, some progress pictures would be nice. I saw that their pool was broached into the ocean, or at least it looked like that. I wonder if they will be able to repair, or will that become their new shore diving entry point? :11: As I said before, this should be interesting. Woody

Lilycat,

We're going on December 3rd. I sent you a PM.

Regards,

Continental Airlines called today (mechanized recording) and asked us to call back to avoid flight cancellation. We called them back and told them we still wanted to go. At this point they think the flight will still go, but it's been moved from ~ 9:15 AM to ~ 1:15 PM. Oddly, the recording said it only applied to flights leaving on or prior to the 24th, and Lilycat and I are leaving on the 26th...

Continental is in fact consolidating flights for the next few weeks, and will be returning to a normal schedule after Thanksgiving. This is great news for Cozumel and Cozumel lovers :)

I was scheduled to go back on the 13th, and received an automated call today. My heart sank thinking they were once again canceling my flight home (this would have been the 3rd time).

When I called it was good news, they had simply rescheduled me for the following day! They will have three flights a week through the 24th, and then will resume to one flight daily. Then, instead of having the 12:15 and 3:00ish departures out of Coz, they will have one late afternoon flight, I think at 4:20pm. The incoming flight from Houston is now departing Houston at 1:15pm, instead of 9:15am allowing for more connections from other cities.

The two flight per day schedule will resume in January or February as things improve and more hotels open!

They are currently flying one or two flights per day to Cancun, and that will resume to 4 to 6 flights daily as things improve as well. SO, if you can't get to Coz on the exact date you want to, you CAN get to CUN.

I also talked to my amiga Michaela of Liquid Blue today and she was very positive and upbeat and gave me alot of great positive news!

I also received an e-mail from Margaret (Papa Hogs) in response to the mail I sent her about donations to the Coz relief fund for their shop. She was very appreciative and said her guys will be very happy and appreciative! She had positive news and said they are definitely ready for people to come back as well! So come on down!

Today was a great day and Cozumel is coming back stronger and better than before!!!

Ok, Continental is really confusing me. Our non-stop to Cancun was cancelled (not in operation again until 12/15), so we said fine, if we have to connect we'll fly to Coz. I wanted a 9:30am out of Newark connecting to the 1:15 out of Houston. An hr later they called to say that the afternoon flight is not operating, only the 9:15am one. Since getting to the airport at 3am for a 5am dind't thrill me, we booked to fly to Houston the night before and then take the 9:15. So now I guess I'd better call them back again.... no need to loose a 1/2 day vacation time and the hilton points I used for a hotel if I can in fact now travel straight through on the same day.

Our plans are starting to shape up and looks like we will be able to keep our original dates, we're going to be there 12/3 to 12/10 diving with Christi. Still not sure where we're staying, Christi I'll call you tomorrow to get some info.
Our flight is also on Continental, so far have gotten any messages from them concerning our flight.

We're diving with Blue Angel and staying at Caribe Blu. I'll keep you guys with later trips posted on our experiences once we return. (I expect to receive an update from Jeanie next week, but she seemed confident last week that our plans would remain the same.)

I'm sure that more than a few of us will be interested in your trip report, especially if you can post some photos to go with it (hint, hint). Hope you have a great time.
