Thanks for the update. I like Los Seras and Chilangos too - both are cheap and patronized mainly by locals (I like this rather than eating where the cruise ship crowd go - in San Miguel square). I had 2 burritos, soup and a lemonade for under $5 at Chilangos. If you get a chance, do try La Mission (on Ave 30) for great burritos, fajitas, enchiladas (or just get the combo plate), La Candela (Ave 5 & Calle 6) for cheap Cuban(?) lunch with soup (under US$5) and Camilos (Ave 5 bet. Calle 2 & Calle 4) for awesome shrimp tacos and tortas (they make a stiff margarita as well). I think Candela and Camilos serve lunch only.
Also, Hotel Flamingo (Calle 6) has a good chef - great regular or japanese ceviche (in wasabi), shrimp pernod, traditional Yucatan chicken lime soup, grilled seafood and good bar for terquila. Prices from US$5-15. Website at:

Dive safely and eat well.

Great list Marg, thanks for taking the time to report. We were happy to see some of our favorites made your list.

I didn't see it on the list, but that chicken place across the street from Domino's is really good and cheap. I think it's off 65 ave?

It's on 30th.

A better chicken place is on 30th between Morelos and Calle 5...across from the old Ace Hardware

Asaderos de Pollo

Nothing cuban about it. All lunch plates are between $45 and $55 pesos Open daily for breakfast and lunch, until 5:00pm

and Camilos (Ave 5 bet. Calle 2 & Calle 4) for awesome shrimp tacos and tortas (they make a stiff margarita as well). I think Candela and Camilos serve lunch only.

Camilos now has a second location as I've mentioned several times in varios threads. They are open daily for lunch and dinner until 10:00pm with all of the same items from teh old menu and some new things too. Av. 10 between 1st and Salas

Thanks for this thread! We're headed for Cozumel in March, and I will make sure this is bookmarked.
