I've been out of U/W photography for about 20 years -- my last rig was a Nikon N90s, housing, Ikelite SS200 strobes, 105mm, 60mm, 20mm wide. I've largely been out of diving as kids grew up but now that my oldest has been certified and I can see the light at the end of the post-college tunnel, I'd like to get back into diving as well as photography. (I've been using a GoPro to at least scratch the itch.)

As I'm also getting older, I'm leaning towards a less-is-more approach, so more macro-focused where I can find some quality in smaller setups.

The big question is resources on where to start researching choices.

TIA!

An Olympus TG-5/6/7 might be a first step. Very well suited for macro out of the box and with the Olympus housing and some Ikelite adapters will support modern strobes (including Ikelite DS series even including an optical RC control to trigger Ikelite TTL); can be extended relatively inexpensively; small and relatively painless to take along when flying. Backscatter.com has articles about settings for the TG6 (latest version of that camera is now the TG7) and a lot of other information. This photo was taken with a TG6 in Roatan with a Backscatter 'air' lens and two Ikelite DS-161 strobes.
