Hi everyone, I received my ow in july ,aow & nitrox in august, and just finished my rescue diver cert. will be doing my dry suit specialty in january at mt. storm in w.va. am also starting my divemaster course in jan. snorkeled for years but a trip to the keys in sept 03 and cozumel in jan 04 were the deciding factors in getting certified. a minute or two on a breath of air is not enough. I absolutely love this sport. I've got all my own gear and strongly advise any new divers to get as much as you can as soon as you can. it's a real incentive to get in the water when you've got a few thousand dollars worth of dive gear sitting in the corner. plus it's so much more reassuring when you know where the gear you're using has been and how it's been taken care of. I just got my new os systems dry suit yesterday. and can't wait to get in the water with it. I hope to be able to contribute to this board in the future and any western pa divers who would like to share stories or maybe dive together drop me a line. Jim

Hi Jim,
Welcome to Scubaboard. Sound advice about getting your own gear, that's what I did.
And I am quite happy with my $2k or so investment.

No experience needed and it feels great!

Hi Jim and welcome! You're not messing around with the pace you're getting your training. Glad to have you here, see you around.

Welcome to the board!

Howdy!

And welcome to SB - the biggest, the best, the fastest growing, and :D the friendliest!
If you'll click ScubaBoard.com above, you'll be taken to our long list of forums, a wealth of information and resources. At the bottom, be sure to notice the Local & Singles Dive Club forums.

Sounds like your training is going very well. You're ahead of me. Don't fail to get some trips and experience in, tho. It would help in future diving discussions if you'd complete your Profile with your Dive Info. You can use the Quick Links in the bar above for such changes. And sizing a photo for your profile or Avatar can be a challenge; I'm a fumbling amateur, but I get the job done, if you'd like any help?

PM me if I can help you learn your way around; that is - click my username to the upper left, then follow the prompts to send me a "Personal Message." :thumb:

Welcome to the board JimLap. It is great to hear another diver so enthusiastic about the sport the rest of us also come to love. That is why were are all here ---- If we can't actually dive, we can talk about it. You will find more forums here than you can shake a stick at to satisfy your interest. Have a question, ask a question.

Heya Jim, welcome to the Board... I did the exact same thing with my training. I craved the knowledge and went from, no way am I getting in that water with "Jaws" to Dm all with in a year. I would advice taking a slow DM course, I've seen some people pop out a Dm in 2 weeks (scary). My class took 4 months where my Instructor insisted I attened all OW and AOW classes that I possible could (smart man). I only have about 110 dive under my belt and every time I dive I find I learn something new. If ever you need any help throughout your quest, please feel free to pm.

Cheers and safe diving,
Vickie
