Request info on Sunfish dive boat out of Ventura

I am going to accompany one of my friends on the Sunfish this Sunday 12 July 09. It's his second day of OW cert dive and I told him that I will be there to dive with him after he finishes the #4 open water dive.

I've never been to this boat before and it's rarely mentioned whenever boat recommendations come up. So, anybody dived on the Sunfish and your opinion of its operation, layout, conveniences, etc.?

isn't the Sunfish in Oxnard, not Ventura?

HT, Its been over two years ago for me, but I remembered the boat mainly students (which in itself is not bad) but it was slow and service didn't excite me....and with Peace, Spectre and even
the Raptor.... I felt it not worth a second chance.... oh it is out of Oxnard. But you're there for your future dive buddy, so that is more important anyhow. Enjoy.

I've taken one trip on the Sunfish (maybe the same one as Dave?). I thought it was an ok boat for what it was, small, limted load, nothing special in the way of food, no bunks. I admit I enjoy sleeping on the way over and back so boats with nice bunks (Great Escape & Peace for instance) get much higher marks with me. I would probably take a trip on the Sunfish again if the right group of people was going, but I also would look towards a bunch of other boats first.

Thanks for the info. I suspected as much, but what the heck, it's only one dive day.

Just went on the Sunfish 12 July 09. It was an OK boat, nothing special to rave about. For the money, I'd rather go out on the Spectre. More room, better grubs and the hot tub!!!
